5. Test for Possible Air Leaks. Another way you can increase your pool skimmerâs suction is by checking the system for possible air leaks. Place a bucket on the step of your pool, making sure the water level is the same both inside and outside the bucket. Mark the water level in the bucket and the pool water level on the outside.
